What is Righteousness?

What is your definition of righteousness? What do you do when you know that you have been unrighteousness? Today's reading and scriptures give us some good "food for thought" in this area.

The scripture that especially spoke to me is the one from Ephesians 4:22-24. What a wonderful blessing to realize that we have put off our old self, and to actually "put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness."

  1. The scripture you quote makes it seem quite simple, like changing clothes. "put off your old self, put on your new self, the one you were created to be, like God in righteousness and holiness".

Easier said than done. I think this is a life-long process. I may change clothes several times a day, and I may repeatedly slip back into my old self more often than I admit. But only I can choose to take my new self out of layaway and used it up in right relationships and holy actions. This is only possible with Holy Spirit power and guidance...Bible study and pray.

    1. Thank you for your response which is a good reminder that it is much easier said than done! I also appreciate your comment about putting on the "new self" being a lifelong process since I think I would like it to be instantaneous!
