Meet God in the Morning

Today's devotional is filled with wonderful words of what happens when we DO meet God at the beginning of everyday! I believe that Sarah' Young's words describe what God is saying to us when we wake up in the morning and turn our thoughts to Him: "I renew your strength and saturate you with Peace."  Isn't it a blessing to KNOW that EVERYDAY here on earth, we are able to be filled with God's Strength and Peace by simply opening our mind and heart and thoughts to Him?  If you have developed this great habit, please share with us how you got started.

As happens many times with these readings, an old hymn comes to mind as I read through the devotional. Today it is "Morning Has Broken." Please take time to listen to these words and watch this magnificent video that shows some of God's Wonders. I hope this will help you and me start our days giving "praise for the morning" and for all of our Lord's blessings!

  1. This morning awareness intensified when recovering from life-threatening pneumonia. I would awaken with a wordless prayer "well God I made it trough another day and night. Thank you." And I would lie still waiting for the first rays of sun to sneak through the window blinds and paint golden strips on the opposite wall. It was a peaceful experience, as natural as breathing.
I have maintained my morning quiet time, but all too often it is like saying OK God this is your time, and I am trying to tame my wandering thoughts, I am waiting, but where are You? In that mood, the alotted time would often end with an empty feeling. God was there, but I never emptied myself of mental and emotional clutter...I thought I was waiting for God, but God was waiting for me to empty myself of me...

  2. I also love the hymn "Morning Has Broken". It brings such peace and happiness to me as I so vividly recall my dad's beautiful voice, at church, singing that hymn with so much emotion. I also try to start each day with the following words ( however, I have to admit that some days I am remiss) : "Today is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it". Prayers, Shelly

    1. Thank you for sharing such a special memory of time with your dad.
What a great way to start your day. When I taught kindergarten in a private school, we were expected to start everyday with that song, "This is the Day That the Lord Hath Made." As I look back, I realize what a blessing that was for those children - and me!
