In today's world, we often hear the term "work ethic" - and how some generations seem to have more of it than others! As a retired school administrator, I do think that this is very important, and I remember honoring teachers who had an exceptional work ethic. However, today's reading and scriptures remind us there is something much more important - Seeking God's Presence above all else! It is only through making God first in our lives that God's Glory "brightens the world around you."
Another powerful related scripture is Matthew 6:33: But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. A hymn that reiterates these words is one by the same title: "Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God." I pray that we can focus on these crucial words in order that change our lives and help us to make God first!
