Be "Persistent" in Prayer!

The story of how many years that Abraham and Sarah prayed for a child is most enlightening to me! I have heard people say that once we pray for something, we should not ask again but rather just let God take over that request. However, this beautiful story of the faith and "perseverance" of Sarah and Abraham tells me not to give up on my prayers - even when I'm praying for the same thing day after day!

I realize that God doesn't always answer my prayers the way I want - and when I want them answered - as is written in today's devotional reading. However, this reading is a blessed reminder of asking for and allowing God's Presence and Light to shine on my hopes, thoughts and dreams. I am gradually realizing that He doesn't always do what I ask - but He sometimes does CHANGE what I ask so that it is more in line with His Will.

Do you have a story to share about times when you prayed for something over long periods of time? Did it happen the way you asked or has God shown you a different answer than you anticipated - but a better answer?
