God IS Our Refuge and Strength!

Today's scripture from Psalm 46 is one that I memorized for a class many years ago. What's amazing is that I can still recall (at least the first part) of that passage and have done so on many occasions. What a blessing to be reassured that God is with us and we don't have to be afraid!

Today's devotional reading is so relevant to our world filled with stories of "cataclysmic circumstances!" When I was in education, I went to a conference about how to be a positive parent/teacher/administrator. The first thing the speaker told us was that if we started our day by only watching news shows, there is a good chance that we will NOT be thinking helpful, encouraging thoughts or using those kind of words! I pray that you will join me in making a commitment/resolution for the New Year that we will start every single day by making time to commune with our Lord.

I praise God for His words of encouragement in today's scripture passages and also from John 14:27:
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." What "Blessed Assurance" that we have from Him that no matter what, He IS our refuge and strength.
