The more I talk to people, the more I realize that in this busy, hectic world, there are still a lot of people who feel empty. Many
of us are still looking for God's Will for our lives in order to feel
at peace. What a blessing to know that by staying close to our Lord, we are transformed more and more into the one that God designed us to be.
A prayer was written by Thomas Merton at a difficult time in his life. These words have comforted me in times of searching: MY LORD GOD, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road
ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I
really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your
will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the
desire to please you does in fact please you.(For the
complete prayer of Merton's, go to this link:
http://www.elise.com/quotes/thomas_merton_prayer.) What do you do on
those days that you feel empty and are searching for God's Will and
Peace?
You might enjoy a time of worship while listening to the words of this old hymn, "Nearer My God to Thee."
