Jesus Calling has obviously touched the lives and hearts of many people, as shown by numerous stories about how the words from a particular day spoke directly to them. The purpose of this blog is to provide a forum for us to share our thoughts and reactions to the words of the author and/or the scripture.

Trust and Quit Complaining!
Trust and don't be afraid - and quit complaining are words that jumped out at me from the devotionals in Jesus Calling for yesterday and today (June 11 and 12). I start most days by thanking God for His wonderful blessings. However, as the day progresses, I often begin "forgetting" some of the blessings and allowing my mind to focus on what might be in the future, or what I don't have, or having regrets about the past. A part of yesterday's scripture from Romans 8:6 says, "..the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace." That's where I want to be 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - to have my mind completely controlled by God's spirit - and to have that peace that only He can give. I know if I could do that one thing, it would change my whole being - including all my complaining - either to myself, friends - or to our Lord. Tell me, what do you think?

This little book has been a powerful blessing to me..a match that lit an explosion of revelation in my life...one of the many things God has revealed to me is the process of how our minds work..I've learned to not "rehearse" failure..because as Soloman said.."As a man THINKS...so will he be"..words make pictures...images...we speak those images and give them life..recently God has given me a new insight into Phil 4:8..whatsoever is true,honorable,right,pure...etc..I used to think..what am I suppose to do, sit around and think happy thoughts all day...but what I believe is this is a litmis test to determine the origin of what you are thinking and where it comes from..the bulk of our "fight of faith" is in our minds and the devil knows this...he is the one who whispers and murmers in our ears thoughts of fear, unbelief and all the "what if's" most time we think it is just us thinking those things..when in fact it is not..Paul offers us a list to test the spirits so to speak and to "cast down" evil imaginations and take captive those thoughts that lead us to fear and defeat...in short we must think about what we are thinking...and be careful of what we say...good point of discussion Pat..
