The first of today's scriptures says, "You shall have no other gods before me," which is such a clear command about how we live our lives. My first thought when I focused on this passage is, "That's easy! I don't worship other gods!" However, today's devotional is a reminder that many of us need; we often look for fulfillment in "earthly pleasures or achievements" - and actually do "worship" those things rather than our Lord.
I appreciate Sarah Young's words about God having "planted longing for perfection in every human heart...a good desire." I think that most people do long for a perfect world, but we must realize that WILL happen when we get to be with our Lord in heaven.
